Furthermore, Frans explained, the imported cows were brought in to strengthen stocks facing the fasting month and Eid al-Fitr 2024.
Based on Frans' presentation data, these 3,000 live cows are part of the assignment to import 20,000 live cows throughout 2024.
"For live cows, the first arrival will arrive in March at approximately 3,000 for the availability of the fasting month and Eid," he said during a working meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 13.
As for beef from Australia, Frans said that his party was applying for a business to business or B2B permit and was in process.
Frans said, it is possible that the beef will enter Indonesia after Lebaran 2024.
The Australian beef import quota is set at 20,000 tons throughout 2024.
"This Australian cow meat is submitted by B2B which is currently in process, it will arrive after Eid," he said.
