JAKARTA - Through the 10th World Water Forum (WWF), the Indonesian Government is committed to encouraging countries and water stakeholders around the world to place water issues at the peak of the global agenda.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono hopes that the 10th World Water Forum can become a decision-making platform to place water issues as a top priority at the global level.

"So that we can all provide better water quality for the better quality of life of our society in the future," Basuki said quoting Antara.

The Indonesian government hopes that the implementation of the 10th World Water Forum will not be limited to producing documents or declarations, but also be able to answer global water challenges and create fair access to clean water in every country.

The 10th World Water Forum focuses on four things, namely water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy security, and mitigation of natural disasters.

The implementation consists of three components, namely thematic process, regional process, and political process.

A political process is needed to integrate the results of scientific discussions in forums so that a policy can be implemented to the public. Therefore, Indonesia invites relevant state leaders and officials to jointly discuss and find solutions to water problems.

A total of 244 sessions in the forum are expected to provide concrete results regarding the mainstreaming of integrated water management for small islands, the establishment of a center of excellence for water and climate security, water-related projects, and the determination of World Lake Day.

The Indonesian government invited 43 ambassadors and 4 international organizations to participate and succeed in the 10th World Water Forum which will be held in Bali on 18-25 May 2024.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that the Indonesian government invited all parties to actively participate in the 10th World Water Forum.

"Real innovation and contribution are needed to realize a sustainable future of water," said Luhut.

The Indonesian government targets the 10th World Water Forum to be attended by around 30,000 50,000 participants from various countries. So that the ambassadors have an important role in socializing the 10th World Water Forum event so that more participants contribute to this forum.
