Nyepi Day, AirNav Continues To Operate Even Though Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport Is Closed

JAKARTA - Nyepi Day does not make SOEs in the field of providing flight navigation services for the AirNav Indonesia branch of Denpasar, Bali to close. The reason is, Persero ensures that it remains fully operational even though I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is closed during Nyepi Day.

Agus in Badung Regency, Thursday, said as many as 40-50 personnel would be on standby and run Nyepi in the office, they were placed from the navigation tower to the terminal.

Although in the last 5 years there have been no emergencies that have occurred as long as the airport is not operating, his party does not want to be careless, especially apart from the emergency, the navigation tower continues to monitor aircraft traffic in Bali air.

"For emergencies during flights, there are flight plans and flight data there are operating standards for each of our units, so if it happens and hopefully it doesn't, we are still ready to serve 24 hours," he said.

Agus Artana said the flight navigation service in the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport area has control areas from Jember, East Java on the west side to the Sumbawa Strait on the east side.

Later on a day before Nyepi Day which falls on March 11, 2024, they will receive data on the movement of passing planes so that it is also monitored.

"Outside Nyepi for those who departed and landed the number was around 380-450 planes, we have not received any information on the plane later (during Nyepi) because it is usually H-1 but usually on Nyepi day around 50-70," said Agus.

During Nyepi Day, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport did not operate for 24 hours, but apart from AirNav, a number of officers at the airport were also on guard in case of an emergency.
