The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Explains The Government's Reason For Imposing Quota Rules In Rooftop PLTS

JAKARTA - The government, in this case the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, recently issued Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 2 of 2024 concerning Rooftop PLTS Connected to the Electricity Network for Electric Power Supply Business Permits for Public Interest (IUPTLU).

This regulation will take effect from January 31, 2024, as an effort to improve as well as replace the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 26 of 2021 regarding Rooftop PLTS.

In this new regulation, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources imposes a quota system.

Acting Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, Jisman P Hutajulu explained, actually the capacity to install Rooftop PLTS is not limited to 100 percent of PLN's installed power but based on the availability of PLN quota.

The capacity quota for the Roof PLTS system in clustering (at the UP3 PLN level) published by PLN through PLN's website, application, and/or official social media. This quota is determined by the Director General of Electricity every five years.

"We also realize that the Rooftop PLTS has an intermittent nature, so that the development of the Rooftop PLTS must be calculated carefully by paying attention to the reliability of the system, so it is necessary to set a PLTS quota every year that enters a system," said Jisman in the Socialization of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources 2/2024, Tuesday, March 5.

Just so you know, the quota in the Roof PLTS system is the number of Rooftop PLTS capacities that can be installed in the IUPTLU holding electric power system in an area with attention to the security and continuity aspects of the system.

Based on the quota of this system, IUPTLU holders are required to prepare a clustering quota.
