Prabowo Confesses Once Having Debt At Bank Mandiri And Successfully Pays 100 Percent

JAKARTA - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto said that he had a personal bond with PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. Prabowo also admitted that he had owed Bank Mandiri when he was still a bank customer.

"I have a personal bond with Bank Mandiri. I am a client of Bank Mandiri, a few years ago and my record at Bank Mandiri is not too bad," he said at the Mandiri Investment Forum 2024 event in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 5.

Furthermore, Prabowo said that he also managed to return 100 percent of the loan when taking credit at the state-owned bank.

"I pay 100 percent of my debt, 100 percent. There are no deductions at all. I think in Indonesian history it is very certain that the debt is 100 percent," he said.

Prabowo also praised Bank Mandiri for being able to maintain non-performing loans (NPL) or bad loans at a low level. Even the lowest in Indonesia.

"I understand NPL, Bank Mandiri is the lowest in Indonesia and the lowest in Asia. So I think as an Indonesian citizen, I really want to appreciate it again because the financial manager's ability of the Indonesian people is very good and run well," he said.

In addition, Prabowo also said that Bank Mandiri's achievements were proven from the position at the bank's place in 300th place from Forbes Global 500.

"I am proud of Bank Mandiri as an Indonesian citizen. I understand Bank Mandiri number 300 from Forbes Global 500. So it's not bad, right," he said.
