JAKARTA - Acting Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) Jisman Hutajulu revealed, until December 2023, the development achievement of the new Roof PLTS has reached 140 megawatts (MW).

Jisman said that this low achievement needed to accelerate the development of Rooftop PLTS.

"Since 2018, the Government has issued a Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation on Roof PLTS to encourage public participation in the provision of clean energy," said Jisman in his remarks at the Socialization of Rooftop PLTS at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Tuesday, March 5.

Jisman added that the government views that the implementation of Rooftop PLTS regulations has not achieved its optimal potential, but he believes this challenge can be overcome with the hard work, innovation, and collaboration of all stakeholders, including the government, academics, business entities, the media, and the community.

"In response to developing dynamics, and acceleration efforts, as well as increasing the implementation of Rooftop PLTS, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has issued Ministerial Regulation No. 2 of 2024 concerning Rooftop PLTS Connected to the Electricity Supply Business License Network for Public Interest (IUPTLU) as a revision of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No.26 of 2021. This regulation regulates the installation of Roof PLTS for both PLN and Wilus non-PLN," explained Jisman.

Jisman continued, the trend of PLTS prices from year to year is decreasing so that the massive use of PLTS can reduce the cost of electricity principal and encourage national efficiency.

"In addition, the PLTS Development period is relatively short," he said.

He added that currently the government is continuing to optimize the use of solar energy through the Roof Solar Power Plant (PLTS).

Moreover, he continued, the development of the Roof PLTS involves the participation of the wider community which can provide benefits, namely, reduce the use of fossil fuels, so that they can reduce GRK emissions, save electricity in the afternoon, and can educate the public directly about renewable energy.

"Strengthening the Roof PLTS is a smart step for a sustainable and energy efficient future," concluded Jisman.
