F1 Powerboat 2024 Lake Toba Successfully Take Advantage Of PLN's Green Electricity

JAKARTA - The shock of the world of fast F1 Powerboat (F1H2O) 2024 super boat racing in Lake Toba, Balige, North Sumatra on March 2 - 3, 2024 was successful with PT PLN (Persero) green electricity supply sourced from new and renewable energy-based plants (EBT).

Darmawan said the green electricity supply came from the Hutaraja Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) with a capacity of 2times2.5 megawatts (MW) and PLTMH Aek Silang 2 with a capacity of 2times5 MW, as well as a Renewable Energy Certificate with a capacity of 152 megawatt hour (MWh).

General Manager of PLN North Sumatra's Main Distribution Unit Saleh Siswanto said PLN was on full alert to ensure electricity in Toba Regency remained reliable during the racing event. Thus, the second year of F1H2O performance went smoothly and electricity was safe without even flickering.

"Alhamdulillah, PLN has succeeded in overseeing electricity so that the second year F1H2O event is successful," Saleh said in a statement to the media, Monday, March 4.

Saleh said that the EBT, which supplies electricity needs in the F1H2O event, is very reliable. It is proven that during this event, the electrical condition went well without flickering," said Saleh.

Saleh explained that during the event, the highest electricity load in Balige was observed at 5.9 Megawatts (MW), an increase of 1.8 MW compared to normal days. PLN also alerted 173 personnel and 5 units of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) in securing electricity for this international event.

Head of Corporate Communication Injourney Alfianto Domy Aji appreciates PLN's hard work in ensuring that the electricity network runs smoothly during the F1H2O event. He also expressed his gratitude for PLN's contribution to the success of this annual agenda.

"Starting from preparation to this event, PLN is very cooperative, consistent and always ready to maintain electrical reliability. PLN plays an important role in the success of this international event," said Alfianto.

Project Director of F1H2O 2024, Samsul Purba also appreciated PLN's support for the F1H2O event which uses reliable and cleaner electrical energy. In addition, the vision and mission is in line with government programs in reducing emissions.

The 2024 F1H2O event has officially purchased REC electricity sources from EBT. This makes us more confident in hosting world championships both in the field of sports and other international events in order to create environmentally friendly tourism areas and support government programs in reducing emissions," concluded Samsul.
