PT PLN (Persero) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT BYD Motor Indonesia in the context of providing home charging services for the development of the infrastructure and ecosystem of Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicles (KBLBB).
PLN's Executive Vice President for Retail Customer Sales and Services Tonny Bellamy said the agreement between PLN and BYD shows the commitment of both parties in supporting Indonesia to become a greener country through electric transportation.
This is in line with the government's mandate in Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 55 of 2019 concerning the Acceleration of the KBLBB Program and Regulation of the Minister of Energy for Mineral Resources (ESDM) Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Provision of Electricity Charging Infrastructure for KBLBB.
"As we all know, the transportation sector is one of the highest contributors to carbon emissions in Indonesia. Motorcycles, cars, trucks, buses, and so on. Today, carbon emissions in the transportation sector have contributed more than 280 million tons of CO2 per year," he told the media, Tuesday, February 27.
Tonny said, from this collaboration PLN and BYD presented bundling of home charging service for each buyer of electric cars. Thus, people who switch electric vehicles will be made easier in their use.
"PLN really appreciates BYD, and we can synergize collaboration to create a battery-based electric vehicle ecosystem to make Indonesia greener," added Tonny.
