Regarding The Fate Of Oil And Gas WKs Who Don't Have Auction Winners, ESDM Opens Opportunities For Joint Study

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Ditjen Migas) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has announced the winner of the 2023 Phase III oil and gas work area offering.

It is known, in the announcement there were several WKs that did not yet have a winner in the 2023 Oil and Gas WK Offer, namely WK Natuna D-Alpha, Panai, Patin, Akimegah I, and Akimegah II.

Director General of Oil and Gas (Dirjen Migas) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Tutuka Ariadji said the WK would be designated as an Available Working Area.

This is a golden opportunity for Business Entities or Permanent Business Forms interested in proposing the management of this Available WK in accordance with the Terms and Conditions expected for a time limit of the next 6 months.

"We offer it with joint study and are in process," said Tutuka when met in Lemigas, Tuesday, February 20.

Tutuka said that his party was open both to KKKS from outside and from within the country considering the lack of infrastructure in several working areas such as WK Akimegah I and Akumegah 2 which were part of the Warim Block.

"At Warim, the infrastructure is not good, so you have to be costy or not like that? If you dare, okay open up. For example, Pertamina doesn't dare to be alone, dare to be with other people, please! Pertamina doesn't want to and others will, please!" explained Tutuka.

To optimize oil and gas potential in Indonesia, explained Tutuka, in 2024 the government also conveyed that the WK candidates are being evaluated for offering.

"The government will continue to strive to invite investors to carry out oil and gas exploration activities in an effort to maintain national energy security. I want to emphasize that Indonesia still has abundant oil and gas potential to support energy needs. We invite potential investors and Oil and Gas Companies who have capabilities and meet the requirements to cooperate with us to develop it. We also invite technology providers to support the development of the upstream oil and gas sector," concluded Tutuka.
