Long Holiday After, Sandiaga Calls Hotel Occupancy Level Up 80 Percent

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said, based on a report by the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), hotel occupancy rates increased by 80 percent during the long holiday period of Isra Miraj and the 2024 Chinese New Year.

"So, 7-11 February 2024 there are two vacations side by side, namely the Isra Miraj holiday and the Chinese New Year. According to the PHRI report, hotel occupancy rates rose by 80 percent in a number of tourist areas," said Menparekraf Sandiaga at The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno, Monday, February 12.

Sandiaga said the soaring hotel occupancy occurred in a number of favorite tourist areas, namely in West Sumatra, Pekanbaru and along the North Coast and South Coast of Java Island.

"Including Bandung, Yogyakarta, Banyuwangi to Bali," he said.

He considered that many people traveled with their families. Thus, almost all of our favorite tourist destinations are full.

"There is also a surge in transportation and accommodation orders, sales of culinary products, restaurant and cafe businesses, selling souvenirs and hawker and souvenir centers," said Sandiaga.

In addition, Sandiaga said, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also noted an increase in the circulation of money from the tourism industry during the long holiday momentum.

Even so, he has not been able to provide further information about the circulation of the money in question. This is because his party is still doing the calculations.

"We also note that the circulation of money from the tourism industry has increased and we continue to calculate because this is one of the things that will be achieved by the target of 1,2-1.5 million domestic tourists (wisnus) movements," he concluded.
