Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said the government would immediately revitalize the Type A Terminal of Cicaheum, Bandung City, West Java (West Java) after the process of handing over assets from the local government (Pemda) was completed.

"We see that the current condition of the Cicaheum Bandung Terminal is not representative. Therefore, I ask the West Java Regional Government to hand over assets (Terminal Cicaheum) to the Ministry of Transportation so that we plan immediately. God willing, by the end of this year or next year it will build as well as the Leuwipanjang Terminal," Budi Karya said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, February 4.

Budi Karya said President Joko Widodo had instructed to review bus terminals which were deemed not optimal and needed to be revitalized immediately, one of which was the Cicaheum Terminal.

Currently, Cicaheum Terminal is being transferred assets from the West Java Regional Government to the Ministry of Transportation.

The Minister of Transportation said that currently the road conditions in the city of Bandung are very congested because many people use private vehicles. In addition, the public's perception of the terminal is not good, such as slum conditions and many thugs.

"Therefore, the Regional Government and the Bandung City Transportation Service must be proactive in following up on this revitalization program. Because, if not, the funds that have been prepared cannot be utilized properly," said the Minister of Transportation.

By revitalizing it, the terminal will have better service so that it is hoped that people will come to the terminal and switch to using public transportation.

Furthermore, said the Minister of Transportation, the government received financial assistance from the World Bank to improve the quality of transportation infrastructure in a number of cities, including Medan and Bandung.

"With this assistance, we have sufficient fiscal space. We will also get assistance from 462 electric bus fleets from the World Bank," he said.

The Minister of Transportation also said that with the terminal revitalization program in Bandung City, at least 20 routes would pass through the area.

"This will certainly reduce the level of congestion in the city of Bandung," he said.

In Bandung City, there are two type A terminals that serve inter-provincial intercity transportation, namely Leuwipanjang Terminal, Bandung City and Cicaheum Terminal. Leuwipanjang Terminal serves routes from Bandung and to the West, such as to Jakarta to Sumatra.

Meanwhile, Cicaheum Terminal serves routes from Bandung to the east such as Central Java and East Java.

To note, the budget for improving the quality of transportation services in Greater Bandung is IDR 1.3 trillion.

The budget is not only for transportation facilities, but also for infrastructure development such as bus stops and special lanes along approximately 20 kilometers (km).

On this occasion, the Daily Executive (Plh) Head of the Bandung City Transportation Service Ricky Gustiadi welcomed the revitalization program carried out by the central government.

"We thank you because the most important thing for us Bandung City people is well served, with the presence of a better type A terminal function like Leuwipanjang," said Ricky.
