KAI Commuter Reveals Reasons For Selecting New KRL Imports From China

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia or KAI Commuter has opened its voice regarding the reasons for choosing new KRL imports from China compared to Japan. One of the things to consider is the price offered.

As is known, KAI Commuter will officially import three new KRL series with KCI-SFC120-V type from a manufacturer from China, CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd with an investment value of around Rp783 billion.

KAI Commuter Corporate Secretary Anne Purba explained that in the technical preparation process for imports, KAI Commuter continues to build communication with various providers or manufacturers from several KRL facilities producing countries.

"After an official proposal from J-TRECT (Japanese KRL producer) we received last October 2023, the producer conveyed a change in technical recommendations and financing submitted from the previous proposal," he said in an official statement written on Saturday, February 3.

In addition to continuing to communicate with J-TREC Japan, Anne said KAI Commuter also communicated with South Korea (Wojin and Dawonsys) and China (CRRC Cifang Qingdao) which also produces fast trains

"After receiving proposals from the four parties, from the results of the discussion on the KRL Facilities procurement process, CCRC Sifang can meet technical and time delivery specifications in accordance with the requirements and competitive prices compared to other products," he explained.

In addition, continued Anne, in terms of reputation and track record, CRRC Sifang has collaborated with 28 countries in the world in providing EMU commuter facilities with various conditions in the respective countries of its importers.

China's Import Trains Are In Accordance With The Technical Specifications Of The Ministry Of Transportation

Anne said the three series of imported KRL facilities with the KCI-SFC120-V series from China were in accordance with the technical specifications determined by the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

Furthermore, Anne said that in the process of procuring the three series of imported KRL, KAI Commuter went through long stages and technical discussions, and followed the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG).

"KAI Commuter must meet the requirements by submitting it to the DJKA first," he said.

Anne said this process was carried out to ensure that all technical specifications had met the requirements in accordance with the railway infrastructure in Indonesia.

"This whole process also applies to all procurement of KRL facilities in KAI Commuter," he explained.

In this procurement process, continued Anne, KAI Commuter must also ensure time delivery or delivery time so that Commuter Line users can be served properly.

"This is also an important point in fulfilling the KRL facilities, especially in Jabodetabek, where we have to ensure the availability of facilities because the rejuvenation process continues," he said.
