Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that the existence of the Patimban International Port must be maximally utilized to become a world class terminal, because the government has issued a large investment budget.

"The investment is big. It's a shame if it's not optimized optimally. Patimban Port must be pushed into a world class terminal," said Airlangga in his official statement Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Patimban International Port has been operating since 2021 and has a key role in encouraging national economic power by connecting Industrial Estates that summarize a number of important areas such as West Java, Central Java, and East Java with international markets.

According to Airlangga, not only is it a symbol of economic growth, the construction of the Patimban International Port National Strategic Project (PSN) is also a tangible manifestation of Indonesia's comprehensive vision in building sustainable infrastructure and encouraging prosperity for the entire community.

In the period December 2021 to December 2023, Patimban International Port has provided services for domestic loading and unloading activities of 184,948 CBU (Completely Build Up) and 268,968 CBU international loading and unloading, consisting of loading and unloading terminal cars and services to 20 multipurpose vessels.

Currently, the construction of the Patimban International Port phase 1 phase 1 has been completed and has been operating and phase 1 phase 2 development is still ongoing.

In addition, Airlangga said that there had been a PSN Industrial Estate proposal with an overall investment value of IDR 169.5 trillion to support Patimban International Port which focused on semi-conductor, electronics and petrochemical production.

The construction of Patimban International Port itself aims to reduce logistics costs by bringing production centers closer from ports so that they can provide strengthening economic resilience.

With an investment value of IDR 43.22 trillion, Patimban International Port is also expected to help reduce the level of traffic congestion in Jakarta with the distribution of vehicle traffic flows directly to Patimban.

"So hopefully, the north coast of Java will be more efficient with this port, as well as helping traffic in Jakarta not to get too congested," said Airlangga.

The construction of the port covering an area of 369 hectares is also supported by the construction of the Patimban Access Toll Road to facilitate access to and from the Patimban International Port.

According to Airlangga, with a total investment cost of IDR 5.02 trillion, the construction process for the Patimban Access Toll Road which starts in early 2024 will have a length of 37.05 km consisting of 22.94 km of the Government portion and 14.11 km of the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT).

With the PSN Patimban International Port and Patimban Access Toll Road, the plan to build a hinterland through the Patimban Industrial Estate is expected to increase connectivity and logistics efficiency in Indonesia so as to strengthen economic growth and increase competitiveness in the international arena.
