Antam Boss Says He Hasn't Paid Rp1.1 Trillion To Budi Said

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Antam Tbk (ANTM) Nicolas Kanter admitted that he had not paid a penny of compensation to the property entrepreneur from Surabaya, Budi Said on the decision of the Supreme Court (MA).

As is known, the Supreme Court (MA) rejected the reconsideration (PK) submitted by PT Antam Tbk (ANTM) against Budi Said. With this decision, the cassation decision previously submitted by Budi Said was legally binding.

Antam had to pay compensation with 1,136 kilograms (kg) of gold bullion or 1.1 tons or Rp1.1 trillion.

"Not yet, we haven't paid it yet. Because I will continue to take legal action. Even if not, I will look for any legal action that we can do," he said when met at the Indonesian Ombudsman's office, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 23.

Nico, his nickname, said he was grateful for the appointment of Budi Said as a suspect in Antam's alleged gold sale and purchase case by the Attorney General's Office.

"I'm just grateful to God that in the end he became a suspect," he said.

Furthermore, Nico emphasized, Antam has never sold large amounts of gold at a discount.

He said Antam always sells based on invoices and prices on the internet.

"Because it has been discussed, there are many discussions that how can Antam sell 6 tons of gold with a discount. There has never been a discount. Antam sells it always based on the invoices, based on the price in the intenet," he said.

"If there is an Antam person who promises to have a broker, then that must be punished and proven. Thank God it was also proven that he participated, because there was evidence as well, where BPK also conducted an examination. Now we will see the trial, this is the status of this suspect from the Prosecutor's Office," he continued.

For your information, the Attorney General's Office has named Budi Said as a suspect in the alleged corruption case of abuse of authority in the sale of 1.1 tons of precious metal gold in the Surabaya 1 Antam Boutique.

Based on the results of the intensive examination and the evidence obtained, on Thursday, January 18, Budi Said's status was raised as a suspect in the case of buying and selling precious gold worth IDR 1.1 trillion.
