JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) will repair the Brondong Archipelago Fisheries Port (PPN) in Lamongan Regency, East Java. Repairs to the port will involve various parties.

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi together with stakeholders conducted consolidation to repair the port, on Sunday, January 21.

Minister of Transportation Budi said, according to the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi), collaboration is needed in an effort to make it easier for fishing communities to find fish, including in Lamongan.

"We will collaborate with the Bengawan Solo River Basin Center of the Ministry of PUPR, Pelindo and the special terminals (sus) around Lamongan," Budi said in a written statement, quoted Monday, January 22.

In 2021, President Jokowi visited Brondong Port. He agreed to the fishermen's request for dredging and raising bow lights at the port.

Budi said, there are two points that are concentrations of improvement, namely the pool area and salted times. "Today we are with Lamongan Regent Yuhronur Efendi to review the two points that we will try to improve," he said.

Previously, fishermen in Lamongan conveyed that there was silting at the port, making it difficult for their ships to dock. Therefore, the fishermen asked for repairs and dredging.

Meanwhile, the head of the Belimbing Fishermen's Group, Brondong Lamongan, Wahid expressed his gratitude to the government for repairing the port.

"Hopefully with the repair, it will make it easier for our ship to move to look for fish," he said.
