JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) revealed that there were additional toll road operations functionally of 115 kilometers (km) during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays.
Secretary General of the Ministry of PUPR Mohammad Zainal Fatah said that the additional operation of the toll road proves an increase in human activity and mobility.
"We have operated the toll road functionally for 115 km and this has been proven that the addition has increased by 6.48 percent on an annual basis (yoy) compared to last year," said Zainal Fatah in a Working Meeting with the agenda of "Evaluation of the Implementation of 2023 Christmas Holidays and 2024 New Year" with the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Thursday, January 18.
For the island of Bali itself, the Ministry of PUPR has prepared a national road along 589.64 km with road conditions reaching 99.55 percent, and of course the operation of the Bali-Mandara Toll Road.
"On the island of Sumatra, we have a toll road of 885 km. We also keep the national road of more than 13,000 km in a stable condition and thank God we can reach 94.74 percent of the steady condition," he said.
"In Sumatra, the functional toll road for the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays is also operational, thank God this has helped a lot of traffic smooth in Sumatra," he continued.
Meanwhile, said Zainal Fatah, the Ministry of PUPR has also operated 97 km of toll roads with two resting places and services (TIP).
"The national road on the island of Kalimantan reaches more than 8,000 km with a steady condition of 91.55 percent," he said.
As for Sulawesi Island, the total length of existing national roads has reached 8,794 km with a steady condition of 94.84 percent. Meanwhile, the toll road operates 61.4 km during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays.
"For the improvement of toll road services, the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) has made several efforts, of course the first is coordination with the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), and also with the Indonesian Police, especially from Korlantas," he added.
