Balikpapan-IKN Only Need 30 Minutes If The Toll Road Is Complete

JAKARTA - The capital city of Nusantara (IKN) toll road will shorten the distance from Balikpapan to the new capital city.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) predicts that the IKN toll road will make a distance from Balikpapan to IKN only 30 minutes.

"Currently, it is normal for us to go from Balikpapan to IKN to take between 1.5 hours to 2 hours," Jokowi said quoting the Presidential Secretariat's youtube, Jakarta, January 18.

So, according to Jokowi, for people who first visited IKN, the journey would be very far. "Sometimes it feels very far if it comes to IKN once," he said.

In addition to toll roads, access to IKN will also be easier if VVIP IKN Airport is operational.

"Plus, if the airport is finished, from the new airport to the point of the IKN Core Area, it only takes 15 minutes," he said.

According to VOI records as of November 16, 2023, the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) targets that the IKN access toll road will be completed in April this year.

"The IKN Access Toll Road is targeted to be completed in April 2024," said BPJT Member of Public Elements Tulus Abadi in Jakarta, Thursday, November 16.

Tulus said that the acceleration of the completion of the IKN access toll road was in the context of celebrating the 79th Indonesian Independence Day at IKN Nusantara.

"The target before August 2024 is that a number of sections for the IKN Nusantara Access Toll Road have been completed," he said.
