Good News! 1.7 Million Automated Honorary Workers Will Be Appointed As ASN This Year

JAKARTA - Good luck approaching honorary staff this year. The government through the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) and the State Civil Service Agency (BKN) together with Commission II of the DPR agreed that 1.7 million honorary workers would be appointed as ASN.

Of the total 2.3 million honorary workers in the BKN database, 1.7 million of them will be appointed as ASN for Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) this year.

Chairman of Commission II of the DPR Ahmad Doli Kurnia said, based on Law (UU) Number 20 of 2023 concerning ASN, honorary staff will be abolished. Therefore, it must be completed until December 2024.

"Alhamdullilah, we have found several solutions. 2.3 million, we have found a solution. We will appoint it as a PPPK, even though the process will be full of time or part-time, no later than December 2024," he said at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Wednesday, January 17.

Based on BKN data, the number of honorary staff until 2022 was recorded at 2.3 million people.

From several CASN recruitments, there are 570,054 non-ASN or honorary workers who have been raised to PPPK staff. Thus, there are still 1.7 million honorary workers in 2023.

Still Must Join CASN 2024

Meanwhile, PANRB Minister Azwar Anas said that the scheme for appointing honorary staff to become PPPK ASN must continue to participate in the selection through CASN 2024.

Although, he said, in the end they would automatically be removed.

This process is carried out for the purposes of warking, not to determine whether to pass or not.

In addition, Azwar said, the appointment of honorary staff will also be determined based on the regional government (Pemda) budget in paying employees.

Azwar explained, if the local government has sufficient budget, the number of honorary workers in the area will automatically be appointed as PPPK ASN full time.

On the other hand, if you don't have enough budget, you can first be appointed as a part-time PPPK.

"Why is it ranked? The regions don't have all the money. Oh, there are honorariums, for example 1,500 people, what money does the local government have? Not all of them have money. But their status will automatically be PPPK later. Because if not, they must be dismissed. Because they will have an employment identification number, "said Azwar.

Furthermore, Azwar said, if there were 2.3 million honorary staff data, it was data from BKN. Where, this data is obtained from the regional governments (Pemda) of each region.

Therefore, Azwar emphasized that if there are honorary staff who feel that they are not included in the 2.3 million people data, they can ask directly to the local government.

"But once again, the database totals 2.3 million in BKN. For those who complain, they are already working but not included by the local government, please complain to each local government, penetrate it to BKN," he said.
