Prabowo Attends BUMN Christmas Event, Minister Of Religion Yaqud: In Connection With The Defense System

JAKARTA - Minister of Religion (Menag), Yaqut Cholil Qoumas explained that as a minister of religion he must of course attend religious celebration invitations. Including the Christmas celebrations held by the Ministry of SOEs.

As is known, the Ministry of SOEs held the 2023 Christmas celebration at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Monday, January 15.

Yaqut himself was invited directly by the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir. Apart from Yaqut, the Minister of Defense (Menhan) as well as presidential candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto.

When giving his speech, Yaqut explained why Prabowo was present at the event. He said, Christmas celebrations together with the Minister of Defense had a relationship.

"What does the Minister of Defense have to do with the celebration of Christmas together? I haven't answered earlier, sir, I answered here," said Yaqut at the event location, Monday, January 15.

Furthermore, Yaqut said Prabowo's presence in this Christmas celebration was related to the defense system. He said, in Indonesia the defense system is universal. Artunya, a defense system that has characteristics of people and territories.

In the people, continued Yaqut, there are religious people in it. So, according to him, Prabowo was naturally present at the event.

"When it comes to people, there are religious people in it, sir, so they are very significant and very connected. Why should the defense minister be present among religious communities, Christians in this room," said Yaqut.

According to Yaqut, Prabowo's presence also helped him as minister of religion. Therefore, he thanked Prabowo.

"Thank you, Mr. Minister of Defense for attending, this strengthens or eases my duties as Minister of Religion. Because the Minister of Defense is the back-up," he said.
