PT Elnusa Tbk (ELSA) relies on the Elnusa Modular Rig 01 (EMR-01) rig which has been experienced for 14 years working on drilling exploration wells in the East Kalimantan region.

EMR-01 rig is one of the cyber rigs or rigs operated by Southeast Asia's first computer system when this rig entered Indonesia in 2008.

The EMR-01 rig with specifications that it does not have much of a drilling contractor company in Indonesia. In addition to having a cyber system and very compact, this 1,500 Horse Power rig also has an advantage of fast driving.

Elnusa Operations Director Charles Harianto Lumbantobing said, with the advantage of fast moving, EMR-01 was very fast in carrying out rig-up and rig-down processes from one drilling site to another.

"For drilling purposes, technically the rig, which can drill up to a depth of 14,000 feet, is equipped with several playing equipment such as substructure, towers, mud pump units, to the Top Drive Drilling System, where everything works in an integrated manner," Charles said in an official statement, Thursday, January 11.

Charles added that his party believes that the EMR-01 rig is very useful to support the massive drilling activities in supporting upstream oil and gas exploration activities launched by the Government.

He admitted that Elnusa was ready to seize this opportunity where the EMR-01 team had high dedication and had been tested to run a solid and tight drilling schedule without a significant delay time.

"We hope that EMR-01 can continue to support the upstream activities of the country's oil and gas in order to achieve the target of oil production of 1 million barrels and gas production of 12 BSCFD in 2030," concluded Charles.

Just so you know, EMR-01 first operated in the Sanga-Sanga Working Area (WK) in 2009 which at that time was managed by Vico.

The technology and innovations applied are quite active in supporting the Vico oil and gas drilling activities in Sanga-Sanga Block, reaching 70 wells until 2016. Furthermore, EMR-01 drilled the Pertamina EP exploration well in Sangatta, East Kalimantan, in 2017.

After the transfer of management of WK Sanga-Sanga from Vico to Pertamina and managed by Pertamina Hulu Sanga-Sanga (PHSS) in 2018, EMR-01 is still trusted to carry out well drilling activities.

It was recorded that in 2021, Elnusa worked on three semi-exploratory wells. After that, it continued with drilling four exploration wells from early 2022 to the end of 2023.

In detail, there is a Phoenix exploration well whose drilling can be completed in 125 days in the first half of 2022. It was interspersed by drilling Mutiara's development well in June-August 2022, the EMR-01 rig drilled again into the Helios D-1 exploration well which was also completed within 125 days from October 5, 2022 to February 6, 2023.

Then it continued with the construction of the Polaris exploration well which was completed within 70 days from March 20, 2023 to May 28, 2023.

Finally, EMR-01 drilled into Draco's exploration well, starting from July 14, 2023 to September 30, 2023 within 79 days.

The results are quite good from the Helios and Polaris wells where these two wells are discovery wells that find new oil and gas resources and are expected to be beacons for other wells in the vicinity.

For 2024, the EMR-01 rig which has recorded HSSE performance for Days Away from Work Case until 4,574 days survived, will continue drilling activities at WK Sanga-Sanga. Where PHSS has launched eight development well drillings in the Seremah and Badak areas, East Kalimantan. From 2021 to 2034, PHSS does plan to drill more than 500 wells at WK Sanga-Sanga.
