AP II Records 4.2 Million Passengers During The Christmas And New Year Period

PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) recorded the realization of passengers during the 2023 Christmas and New Year 2024 Transport periods as many as 4.2 million passengers or exceeding the target of 4.04 million passengers.

This number increased by 12 percent compared to the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year transportation, which were 3.74 million passengers.

AP II Vice President Corporate Communication Cin Asmoro in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday, January 6, said collaboration between all stakeholders made AP II-run airports able to meet high demand for air travel by the end of 2023.

"The number of passengers exceeds our projection or target. In addition to the increasing number of passengers, the cumulative number of flights at AP II airports on Christmas 2023 and New Year's 2024 transportation also increased by 3 percent compared to Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 or from 29,604 flights to 30,573 flights," said Cin, quoted by Antara.

In the period of Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024, AP II noted that a number of airlines also operate additional flights at AP II airports.

Cin said the total extra flight operated by airlines at AP II airports reached 1,443 extra flights.

Although the activity of flight traffic has increased, he said AP II airports with airlines can maintain the level of flight time performance (OTP).

"OTP at AP II airports on average reaches 80 percent. This is a good level. This OTP achievement is thanks to the good collaboration of all stakeholders in providing services to ensure smooth departure routes and passenger arrivals," he said.

In addition, the smooth arrangement of aircraft movement on the airport's air side also plays an important role in achieving the OTP.

Meanwhile, specifically at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, AP II reported that the number of aircraft passenger movements during the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 periods reached 2.62 million passengers, an increase of about 13 percent compared to the Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 periods of 2.32 million passengers.

Meanwhile, the number of flights increased by 6 percent or from 16,792 flights to 17,877 flights.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport Executive General Manager Dwi Ananda stated that the increase in passengers and flight traffic could be managed properly thanks to the support of all stakeholders.

"Operational and service at Soekarno-Hatta Airport went smoothly, both during the departure and backflow. We thank all stakeholders and airplane passengers for their support," said Dwi.

A number of destinations are the favorite destinations for airplane passengers to and from Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The five most busy domestic routes to and from Soekarno-Hatta Airport during Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024, namely Bali (510,076 passengers), Deli Serdang (341,543 passengers), Surabaya (232,538 passengers), Makassar (215,557 passengers), and Pontianak (148,553 passengers).

The five busiest international routes, namely Singapore (286,520 passengers), Kuala Lumpur (227,894 passengers), Jeddah (140,315 passengers), Bangkok (62,199 passengers), and Hong Kong (60,075 passengers).
