Minister Of Transportation Says Community Movement Reaches 126 Million People During Christmas And New Year Holidays

JAKARTA - During the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 holidays, there were 126 million people out of the province and in the province.

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi revealed that the Ministry of Transportation is collaborating with telecommunications operators to see the number of community movements during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays.

This figure is based on the resummation of the results of the mobile data (PMD) positioning which was carried out from 16 December 2023-1 January 2024.

It is known that the Minister of Transportation officially closed the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year Transportation Center Command Post at the Ministry of Transportation Building, Jakarta, Thursday.

According to the Minister of Transportation, these results are not much different from the prediction of the community movement from the Ministry of Transportation's Transportation Policy Agency which reached 107 million people.

"We will continue to make more accurate efforts related to the movement of people from one point to another so that better handling can be carried out," said the Minister of Transportation quoting Antara.

He explained that the surge in people's movements during the Christmas and New Year holidays could be anticipated and run safely, safely, comfortably and smoothly.

This was achieved thanks to the good coordination and collaboration of all related elements from both ministries/agencies, transportation operators and toll roads, mass media and the community.

"With the surge in movement, it means that we must plan and execute well to unravel the density of movement at one time. Thank God we can carry it out well, this cannot be separated from all of our cooperation," he said.

Based on data from the National Police, during the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 periods, precisely from 22 December 2023 to 2 January 2024, there was a decrease in traffic accidents by 12 percent with 3,412 traffic accidents.

From the results of monitoring at the Central Christmas and New Year's Command Post which was carried out from 19 December 2023 to 3 January 2024, it was recorded that the total number of passengers using public transportation modes, both land and train, increased 16.48 percent compared to Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023.

Meanwhile, the number of vehicles passing on toll roads leaving Jabodetabek has increased by 8.13 percent. Meanwhile, the number of vehicles passing on toll roads entering Jabodetabek increased by 7.81 percent.
