JAKARTA - Throughout 2023, PT PLN (Persero) has succeeded in building 54 units of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU).
Thus, overall PLN has presented 624 SPKLUs at 411 location points spread throughout Indonesia.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said PLN was committed to supporting the electric vehicle ecosystem by preparing SPKLUs spread across various parts of Indonesia.
The increasing number of SPKLUs can foster people's confidence to switch to using electric vehicles.
"PLN continues to carry out transformations to improve customer service, especially supporting the acceleration of the EV ecosystem. In addition to supporting charging station infrastructure, various features at PLN Mobile also provide various services for the convenience of EV users," Darmawan said in a statement to the media, Kams, January 4.
Throughout 2023, PLN recorded a significant increase in the number of transactions at SPKLU with a total number of 119,600 transactions. This number increased by 404 percent compared to 2022 as many as 29,627 transactions.
The growth of the EV ecosystem is also seen from the increase in the number of electricity consumption in SPKLU.
In 2023 the total will reach 2,464,825 kilowatt hour (kWh) or an increase of 564 percent compared to 2022 of 436,656 kWh.
"The increase in the number of transactions and electricity consumption at SPKLU is a positive signal of the growth of electric vehicles in Indonesia. We will continue to encourage this ecosystem to be more advanced, productive in the future," he added.
Darmawan said public interest in electric vehicles will increase in 2023.

Darmawan detailed that currently, especially in Greater Jakarta, there are 113 SPKLUs, the largest at 43 points.
Meanwhile, in West Java 150 SPKLU are spread over 125 points.
In fact, PLN has also provided 4 SPKLUs in Papua and 25 SPKLUs in Nusa Tenggara.
"We are sure that with the SPKLU spread across Indonesia, especially in tourist destination areas, we also provide SPKLU to be able to encourage green tourism in Indonesia," said Darmawan.
