Government Still Opens Registration For 3 Kg Elpiji Purchase

JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is still opening registration for the purchase of 3 kg LPG or subsidized LPG. This means that people who have not registered do not have to worry about not getting 3 kg LPG.

As is known, starting at the beginning of this year or January 1, 2024, the government has decided that only registered people can buy 3kg LPG. People who have not been registered or want to check user status are required to register or check their personal data in the Sub Distributor or LPG Agent before making a purchase.

"We have planned the transformation of the subsidy that is right on target starting this year. For those who have not registered, cannot buy, except to register first," said Director General of Oil and Gas Tutuka Ariadji at a press conference at the Directorate General of Oil and Gas Office, Wednesday, January 3.

"So you have to register first, there is a registration process. We are still open, register first and then we can buy it," he continued.

Therefore, Tutuka asked for support from Pertamina to facilitate the registration process for 3kg LPG users. This support is needed for the smooth implementation of this new subsidy policy.

"Please help the community and also from the ranks of Pertamina to facilitate this until everything is registered," he said.

Tutuka said this step was taken by the government because the sale of LPG 3kg of subsidies was increasing. In fact, he continued, it reached 8 million tons.

"We realize that non-PSO LPG sales or consumption are getting smaller and vice versa, PSO LPG is getting bigger and bigger. This year, PSO LPG is approximately 8 million tons, and that makes us all think hard why this is happening," he said.

"Because this will encourage so-called oplosan in the field. With that the consequence of subsidy transformation to people is one must," he continued.
