PT Hutama Karya (Persero) said that more than 48,000 vehicles had crossed the Kuala Bingai-Tanjung Pura Toll Road during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays.

"The Kuala Bingai-Tanjung Pura Toll Road has been passed by more than 48,000 vehicles during December 24, 2023 to January 1, 2024," said Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary Hutama Karya Tjahjo Purnomo in his official statement, Wednesday, January 3.

Tjahjo said, for the Kuala Bingai-Tanjung Pura functional toll road, it will still be opened functionally until January 10, 2024.

"Especially for this toll road, the operation is extended because it is estimated that traffic is still quite high and many vehicles have not returned to their place of origin. So, to anticipate congestion on the road, this toll road will still be operated functionally," he said.

With the high enthusiasm of the toll road users, especially dominated by Class I (private vehicles) vehicles, Hutama Karya hopes that the Kuala Bingai-Tanjung Pura Toll Road can be operated permanently to make it easier for tourist access or logistics for toll road users who want to pass between provinces.

"Currently, we are still waiting for the Decree (SK) of the Minister of PUPR regarding the operation of this section. Later, after the decree is issued, it can be officially operational," he added.

As for the flow of the 2023 Christmas and New Year 2024 holidays, Hutama Karya operates 589 kilometers (km) of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS), consisting of 9 JTTS sections that have operated at a rate, namely the Terbanggi Besar-Kayu Agung Toll Road (189 km), Palembang-Indralaya Toll Road (21.93 km), Bengkulu-Taba Tanjung Toll Road (17.8 km), Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road (131 km), and Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Toll Road (31 km).
