Three Luxury New Generation Trains Operated, KAI: Public Interest Is Quite High

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) operates the New Generation Train on 3 trains (KA), namely the Argo Dwipangga Train for Gambir-Solo Balapan PP relations starting December 13, 2023 (Executive Train and Luxury), Argo Lawu Train for Gambir-Solo Balapan pp relations starting December 18, 2023 (Executive Trains and Luxury), and Additional Taksaka trains for Gambir-Yogyakarta pp relations starting December 21, 2023 (Executive Trains).

"The public's interest in the New Generation Train is quite high. Since it was first operated until Friday, December 29, 2023, there have been a total of 32,000 New Generation Train passengers with an occupancy of 86 percent," said KAI VP Public Relations Joni Martinus in a written statement, Saturday, December 30.

Joni said that in the future the New Generation Train will be used by other KA-KAs, so that more and more people will enjoy improving KAI services in terms of the quality of the train facilities used.

"The presence of the New Generation Train and other services is a form of KAI's efforts to adapt to customer demands. As well as realizing its vision of being the Best Transportation Ecosystem Solution for Indonesia," he concluded.

The New Generation train is part of the procurement of 612 units of the Stainless Steel New Generation train for the period 2023 to 2026 which was imported from PT INKA (Persero).

The advantages of the Executive Train and Luxury New Generation include train entrances and inter-train connecting doors using automatic electric doors.

In addition, Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) available on each train can display information on the nearest station, speed, and room temperature.

The Executive Train Window and Luxury New Generation have also been upgraded to tempered double glass from previously tempered glass, making it safer and reducing heat and noise.

KAI recorded the volume of train passengers during the 9-day period of the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 holidays or December 21-December 29, 2023 as many as 1,831,876 passengers.

Passenger occupancy during that period reached 121 percent of the seats provided as many as 1,517,760 passengers.

The occupancy which exceeds the 100 percent figure is because it is a dynamic passenger who has dropped between the initial station and the final destination station.

Meanwhile, based on data on Saturday, December 30, 2023, train tickets sold for departures Friday, December 29 were 203,043 tickets or 120 percent of the total tickets provided.

Meanwhile, tickets sold on Monday, January 1, 2024 were 159,506 tickets or 94 percent of the total tickets provided. This figure will continue to grow because sales are still ongoing.
