Budi Karya Calls Patimban Port Realizing Indonesia Sentris

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said the presence of Patimban Port in Subang, West Java, could balance the flow of logistics between Western, Central and Eastern Indonesia. This can encourage the realization of equitable development. "We are building sea transportation infrastructure such as Patimban Port, in order to realize development with a paradigm of Indonesia Sentris or evenly distributed throughout the region," Budi Karya said, quoting Antara. Patimban Port is a National Strategic Project (PSN) built with an investment value of IDR 18.9 trillion.

His presence, said Budi Karya, is expected to increase the competitiveness of national logistics, which can support the realization of the vision of Indonesia Gold 2045 carried by President Joko Widodo. "The Patimban Port will become a big port together with Tanjung Priok Port which is part of the global supply chain," said Budi Karya. Budi Karya further explained, the government continues to strive for the development of Patimban Port so that it can function optimally.

Several efforts have been made, namely increasing terminal capacity, building road access, and building ecosystems around port areas.

"We invite business actors to take advantage of Patimban Port as a center for logistical activities and be involved in developing its ecosystem. Currently, a number of countries have expressed interest in investing," he said. The government continues to complete the development of Patimban Port phase 1 such as container terminals which have a capacity of 250,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) and a vehicle terminal with a capacity of 218,000 CBU (completely built up) has been completed. Currently, the phase 2 construction stage is underway which will increase the terminal capacity of vehicles to 600,000 CBU and container terminals reaching 3.75 million TEUs.
