This Is The Strategy Of The Ministry Of PUPR To Support The Smooth Running Of Traffic During The Nataru Holiday

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said that there are a number of strategies that will be carried out to support the smooth flow of traffic during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays.

"The first is to ensure that all national roads function properly, accompanied by fairly complete signs and markings," said Director General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR Hedy Rahadian at a press conference.

Hedy said the second strategy was that his party would stop all toll road and non-toll road repairs no later than D-10 or on December 15, 2023.

The next strategy, said Hedy, will improve toll road services, such as rearranging the flow of vehicles at rest areas and services (TIP) KM 88A, KM 389A, and KM 725A, the addition of traffic control officers at TIP KM 57A, KM 62B Japek, KM 45A & KM 38B, and additional water barriers.

Then, functioning the former Jasa Marga Palikanci (Exit GT Ciperna) office as a temporary rest area, additional functional toilet booths, adding clean water supply, and Sam's work with the ISS as a provider cleaning service.

"Then we implemented a Rest Area Monitoring System (RAMS) equipped with CCTV to monitor parking capacity. We also provided a BPJT Info application that can be accessed by the public via smartphone," said Hedy.

In addition, Hedy also appealed to the public to remain careful when traveling on the Nataru holiday. Because, Indonesia has entered the rainy season.

"We convey to the Nataru travelers to be careful, but we from PUPR have prepared a disaster response team to anticipate emergency conditions, especially emergency related to landslides and floods," he added.

For your information, the government predicts that around 107.63 million people will travel during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays. This number increased by 143 percent compared to the Nataru holiday the previous year.

The peak period of the Christmas homecoming will fall on 22-23 December 2023 and backflow from 26-27 December 2023. Meanwhile, the peak of the New Year holiday homecoming will fall on 29-30 December 2023, while backflow is expected to occur on 1-2 January 2024.
