Indonesia’s Exports Drop to 22 Billion US Dollars, BPS Reveals 3 Biggest Destination Countries

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the export value in November 2023 was 22.00 billion US dollars or a decrease of 0.67 percent compared to October 2023. Apart from that, compared to November 2022, the export value decreased by 8.56 percent.

BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Pudji Ismartini said the decline in monthly export value was driven by a decline in exports from oil, gas (oil and gas), and non-oil and gas exports.

"Annually, the export value in November experienced a significant decline of 8.56 percent. This contraction occurred due to non-oil and gas exports, especially mineral fuels, fats, and vegetable oils," explained Pudji in his statement, Friday, December 15.

BPS noted that by sector, total non-oil and gas exports in November 2023 were recorded at 20.72 billion US dollars or down 0.29 percent compared to October 2023 and down 9.76 percent compared to non-oil and gas exports in November 2022.

Cumulatively, Indonesia's export value from January to November 2023 reached 236.41 billion US dollars or decreased by 11.83 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas exports reached 221.96 billion US dollars or decreased by 12.47 percent.

The biggest decline in non-oil and gas exports in November 2023 to October 2023 occurred in iron and steel commodities amounting to 167.1 million US dollars or 6.82 percent, while the largest increase occurred in animal/vegetable fats and oils amounting to 159.7 million US dollars or 6.82 percent. 56 percent.

Meanwhile, by sector, non-oil and gas exports from the processing industry from January to November 2023 fell 9.70 percent compared to the same period in 2022, likewise, exports of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products fell 10.55 percent and exports of mining and other products fell 21.47 percent.

Furthermore, the largest value of non-oil and gas exports in November 2023 was to China, namely 5.41 billion US dollars, followed by India 2.01 billion US dollars and the United States 1.94 billion US dollars, with the contribution of the three reaching 45.16 percent.

Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union (27 countries) amounted to 3.78 billion US dollars and 1.29 billion US dollars respectively.

Based on the province of origin, Indonesia's largest exports from January to November 2023 came from West Java with a value of 33.76 billion US dollars or 14.28 percent, followed by East Kalimantan with 25.78 billion US dollars or 10.91 percent and East Java with 20 .33 billion US dollars or 8.60 percent.
