JAKARTA - The Among Tani Main Market in Batu City, Malang, East Java, was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Thursday, December 14.

Pembangunan pasar ini dikerjakan oleh Balai Prasarana Permukiman Wilayah (BPPW) Jawa Timur Direktorat Jenderal Cipta Karya Kementerian Pekerjaan Umum dan Perumahan Rakyat (PUPR) dengan meningkatkan kualitas bangunan pasar sebagai pasar modern yang berbasis Bangunan Gedung Hijau.

"This modern market building has met the concept of a Green Building Building, the TPS, waste treatment and reforestation are available," Diana said in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, December 15.

In addition, Diana said, the construction of the Among Tani Main Market in Kota Baru is a National Strategic Project (PSN) based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 80 of 2019 concerning the Acceleration of Economic Development in the Gresik-Bangkalan-Mojokerto-Surabaya- Sidoarjo-Lamongan, the Bromo Tengger- Semeru area and the Wilis and South Crossing Selingkar areas.

"It is hoped that this market can improve the local economy and become an attraction for tourists in Batu City," he said.

Meanwhile, Ervin Maulidia, who is one of the basic food traders at the Among Tani Main Market, Kota Batu, expressed his joy because now the market building is better and cleaner.

"When compared to the old market, it's much different. If it's clean here, visitors are more happy, the facilities are more adequate. I hope, the facilities and infrastructure can be further improved and events are often held to make it even more crowded," he said.

The Among Tani Main Market in Batu City is built as high as 3 floors on an area of 34,060 square meters with a building area of 34,042 square meters. For the distribution of the building, the 1st floor is a wet zone, the 2nd floor is a dry zone, and the 3rd floor is a food and culinary zone.

In addition, there was also an increase in the quantity of market buildings with a capacity of 2,630 units, consisting of 1,716 kiosks and 914 stalls. This market is also equipped with an escalator, emergency ladder and a disabled pedestrian path (ramp disabled).

It is known that the market development budget sourced from the 2021-2023 State Budget amounted to IDR 166.7 billion which was used for the construction of the main market building and supporting facilities, such as pump houses and GWT, substation houses, metrology offices, security posts, polling stations, drainage channels, mobile fences, and landscapes.
