Revision Of Presidential Regulation 55/2019 To Attract Electric Vehicle Investment In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The government is preparing a revision of the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 55 of 2019.

This aims to increase investment in electric vehicles in Indonesia.

"The focus is the development of investment incentives, Indonesia must be strong in manufacturing, especially for KBLBB," said Policy Analysis of Intermediate Experts at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) Arianto Wibowo, quoted Thursday, November 30.

In addition, he continued, the revision of the Presidential Decree is expected that Indonesia, which previously lost to Thailand in terms of investment, will be able to reverse the situation.

"Our aspirations with the revision of the Presidential Regulation can absorb more workers. That's what we are fighting for," he said.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator for the Preparation of the Energy Conservation Program of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Qatro Romandhi, said the government had prepared several regulations such as Presidential Regulation 55, Presidential Instruction 7 and its derivatives.

"The Regulation of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Transportation, we see that the most important issue is the energy transition, the replacement of ICE fuel motorcycles to EVs is one of the mitigation measures to reduce the use of fossil energy," said Qatro.

According to him, to support the energy transition, one of its efforts is the implementation of EVs and the use of Biofuels.

"We have emphasized from the government side that PP 33/2023 is about energy conservation for all energy user sectors to save energy. PP 33 pak PP 33/2023, this is just a release this year and we are in the stage of implementing it," he explained.
