Pos Indonesia Uses Robotic Technology And RFID To Improve Services

JAKARTA - PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) continues to transform and innovate in implementing robotic technology and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to improve services and advance the BUMN business.

Director of Operations and Digital Service of PT Pos Indonesia (Persero), Hariadi, quoted from Antara, Sunday, November 26, said that the latest technology in the form of robotic sorting machines and identification systems that utilize radio waves (RFID) is a step in transformation and innovation that the company continues to carry out.

Later, continued Hariadi, robotic sorting machines and RFID will be used in the process of operation of shipping goods.

"The presence of this technology is Pos Indonesia's effort in automating the process of sorting delivery goods. The goal is to have a competitive advantage and competitive competitive in shipping services," he said.

According to him, the logistics company wants to be a leader in cost competitiveness, by increasing capacity, improving work quality for the short term and anticipating the increasing and increasingly expensive human resource needs in the long term.

He said the presence of robotic sorting machines is expected to reduce the cost of human resources (HR) in the Processing Center ranks, in fact, it is estimated that it can reduce HR costs by between 60-80 percent.

Then, he added, the application of robotic sorting machines will increase the capacity of the number of goods sent and reduce the irregularity or decrease of mischannels.

"So far this is very likely to happen because it relies heavily on humans. Now it can't be wrong," he said.

Hariadi said the two technologies had been launched at the Surabaya Post Processing Central (SPP) on November 16, 2023, which will then be followed in Jakarta in December.

He said, the types and specifications of robotic sorting machines applied at Pos Indonesia are Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) in which there is Artificial Intelligence (AI), equipped with sensors and computing technology so that they can study and interpret their environment.

The use of robotic sorting machines at a speed of 2 meters per second is able to increase the company's capacity by 700 percent and will be increased as needed.

The number of robots installed in SPP Surabaya was 40 and followed for SPP Jakarta with the same number.

"The innovation and transformation that we are doing is expected to increase customer satisfaction in the future, as well as provide a new experience," said Hariadi.
