Indonesian AID Sends Medicine And Medical Equipment Assistance To Palestine Worth 2 Million US Dollars

JAKARTA - The International Development Cooperation Fund (LDKPI) or Indonesian AID dispatched humanitarian assistance in the form of medical medicines and equipment worth US$2 million from Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Wednesday, November 22 in the morning.

"Today's departure is part of a series of implementations of the assistance of the Indonesian Government which was previously released by the President of the Republic of Indonesia on November 20, 2023 at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base," said Secretary of the Directorate General of Financing and Risk Management of the Ministry of Finance Ubaidi Socheh Hamidi.

The government has allocated assistance worth a total of Rp31.9 billion or equivalent to US$2 million through funding the International Development Cooperation Fund Institute (LDKPI) or Indonesian AID as assistance for the second phase of Indonesia.

The aid sent is in the form of medical needs that are urgently needed by the Palestinian people, such as medicines and medical devices including hospital sundries.

This humanitarian aid will be flown by Lion Airbus A330 charter plane on the direct flight route from Jakarta to El-Arish Airport, Egypt.

The plane is scheduled to take off at 04.30 WIB, and is expected to land in Egypt on the same day at 11.00 local time.

The aid will be handed over to UNRWA (BP Agency responsible for dealing with Palestinian refugees) through the Egyptian Red Crescent (Egypt. Red Crescent), then UNRWA will distribute aid to the affected Palestinian people.

LDKPI President Director Tormarbulang Lumbantobing revealed that 55 packages of medical medicine and equipment that were dispatched worth Rp31.9 billion or the equivalent of 2 million US dollars were funded by LDKPI or Indonesian AID, with full support from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Finance.

"We also want to thank all parties who have helped in the departure of this assistance, including the Ministry of Health Crisis Center, KPU Bea and Excise Soekarno Hatta, Angkasa Pura, Kimia Farma, RNI, Lion Air airline, and all parties involved and support the smooth running of our activities", he said.

Tor Tobing further explained that all items sent were items that were really needed by the Palestinian people.

"The items are in accordance with recommendations from UNRWA, the UN agency that handles Palestinian refugees," he said.
