JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) admits that it has difficulty achieving the target of 1.4 billion domestic tourists (wisnus) until the end of 2023. This is because the number of foreign tourist visits until September 2023 has only reached 626.09 million trips.

With less than two months remaining, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is optimistic that it can realize the movement of 1 billion domestic tourist trips this year.

"If you look at the target to reach 1.2 billion and 1.4 billion is indeed very heavy, but the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is optimistic that we will achieve 1 billion first because this target next year will also be the same," said Deputy for Tourism Products and Activities Organizers of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Vinsensius Jemadu in The Weekly Brief With Sandi Uno which was monitored online in Jakarta, Monday, November 6.

The deputy, who is often called Vije, said that the procurement of events is one of the effective strategies to increase tourist movements to reach the target of 1 billion by the end of the year.

"One of the most effective instruments to move the wisnus is organizing events. We make sure and it is obligatory that these events must involve local regencies and cities, even local provinces," he said.

Vije assessed that event promotions should be carried out more intensively so that many tourists move to travel. Good promotions can attract people from outside the region to visit.

He also hopes that the frequency of flights will recover in the future, so that it can spur the movement of domestic tourists.

"We hope that next year, the frequency of domestic flights will recover. So, there will be many routes that have previously been served by airlines, in 2024 they can recover and encourage the movement of foreign tourists from one island to another," he said.

In addition, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also encourages every district, city or province to create events that are classy and of high quality, so that they deserve to be enjoyed and watched by the Indonesian people.
