BPS Records October Inflation Reached 2.56 Percent Annually

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded inflation in October 2023 at 2.56 percent year on year (yoy), with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.64.

BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, Pudji Ismartini said, the highest inflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan at 5.43 percent with a CPI of 120.87 and the lowest occurred in Jayapura at 1.43 percent with a CPI of 112.88.

"Yoy inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in all expenditure group indices," she said in a BPS release, Wednesday 1 November.

Pudji detailed that the increase in the expenditure group index consisted of the food, beverage and tobacco group by 5.41 percent, the clothing and footwear group by 0.85 percent, the housing group, water, electricity and household fuel by 1.16 percent.

Furthermore, the equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance group was 1.89 percent, the health group was 2.04 percent, the transportation group was 1.20 percent, the information, communication and financial services group was 0.11 percent.

Then, the recreation, sports and culture group was 1.50 percent, the education group was 1.99 percent, the food and beverage/restaurant provision group was 2.21 percent, the personal care and other services group was 3.67 percent.

Pudji said that the inflation rate in October 2023 was 0.17 percent on a monthly basis or month to month (mom) and the inflation rate year to date (ytd) in October 2023 was 1.80 percent.

"The yoy inflation rate for the core component in October 2023 is 1.91 percent, mtm inflation is 0.08 percent, and ytd inflation is 1.54 percent," she explained
