JAKARTA - Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia denied that foreign investment in Indonesia is controlled by China. He said, China is not the country with the number one foreign investment investment value (PMA) in Indonesia.
"So which countries have entered Indonesia? The first is Singapore. So the Singapore is still the first number to enter Indonesia," he said at the BNI Investor Daily Summit 2023, in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 25.
Bahlil did not deny that China is also an aggressive country investing in Indonesia. This is reflected in China's position which ranks second as the country with the largest foreign investment in Indonesia.
"The second is from China, (later) Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, and even now America is in the fifth and second countries from Europe," he said.
This data, said Bahlil, reflects that foreign investment in Indonesia is not only controlled by one country. He said foreign investment in Indonesia was evenly distributed from various countries.

"So I think investment in Indonesia is evenly distributed, it is no longer controlled by certain countries. So it is wrong to say that Indonesia's investment is controlled by China alone. This is not true," he said.
Realization of Investment Targets
Bahlil also mentioned the realization of the investment target. He said, until the third quarter of 2023, the realization in nine months had reached Rp1,053 trillion from the target set by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) of Rp1,400 trillion.
"On average, but we are grateful that in Indonesia, thank God our investment target in 2023 is IDR 1,400 trillion and yesterday we released the third quarter so from January to September we have reached approximately 75.2 percent of the total target of IDR 1,400 trillion," he said.
Reflecting on the realization of investments that have reached Rp1,053 trillion, Bahlil is optimistic that an investment target of Rp1,400 trillion can be achieved by the end of the year.
"I am optimistic that this IDR 1,400 trillion target will be achieved," he explained.
