JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) welcomed the visit of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) delegation and representatives of the Yokohama City Government, Japan, to review the Nusantara State Capital (IKN) area, on Tuesday, October 24.

This visit was to see the IKN area for cooperation between the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas and the IKN Authority Agency, as well as a follow-up to the interest of Singaporean investors to participate in the development of IKN Nusantara.

The visit began by visiting the Nusantara Technology House to the Nusantara IKN Zero Point, which is a reference for the construction site of various infrastructures in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP).

Furthermore, the group visited the landed house of the minister and the Pandang Tower of Jalan Sumbu Kebangsaan Barat to see the progress of the construction of the Presidential Palace Area.

"Currently, we are focusing on the development of basic infrastructure which is targeted for completion in 2024, then it will continue in stages," said Head of Regional II Implementation of the Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of East Kalimantan, Alfrits Steeve Willy Makalew in a written statement received by VOI, Wednesday, October 25.

After conducting a review in the KIPP area of IKN Nusantara, JICA's entourage and the Yokoyama City Government headed to Balikpapan City by passing through the construction of the Access Toll Road to IKN.

Currently, the Ministry of PUPR itself is completing the construction of the toll road from Balikpapan to the Nusantara IKN area, in order to shorten the travel time from Balikpapan to IKN Nusantara, which is currently around 2 hours.

This toll road is connected to the Balikpapan-Samarinda (Balsam) Toll Road so that later when connected, it is estimated that the travel time is only around 30-45 minutes.

As for now, the construction of the IKN Toll Road has been running for 3 sections, and is targeted for completion by mid-2024.
