Sandiaga Uno Confident That Coldplay Concerts And The U-17 World Cup Will Not Cause Problems

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno ensured that the holding of two international events, namely the Coldplay concert and the U-17 World Cup, would not clash, in November 2023.

"We have coordinated and it will not be a problem because the arrangements have been given. Our strategy is to use these two big events not to overlap," he said at the Weekly Brief With Sandi Uno press conference which was monitored online in Jakarta, Monday, October 23.

Sandiaga said that these two international activities would increase the number of foreign tourist visits (tourists) and the movement of domestic tourists.

He also emphasized that these two events would not interfere with other activities in Jakarta.

"These two activities will increase the number of foreign tourist visits and the movement of domestic tourists, nor will they interfere with other activities in the capital city," said Sandiaga.

Furthermore, Sandiaga hopes that later the U-17 World Cup event can increase hotel occupancy around the venue.

"We will review the economic impact as we reviewed the economic impact of MotoGP and other major activities events," he said.

In addition, continued Sandiaga, Solo City is also ready to host the U-17 World Cup. According to him, Solo is not the first time holding an international event, so there is no doubt.

"Our view is very good because Solo has been ready in recent years with international-class events from the world. We ourselves have carried out several activities in Solo, the hotel is sufficient, the community can serve, and the experiences of foreign tourists are also very positive," he said.

"So, we are ready to face a surge in tourists due to the U-17 World Cup," he concluded.
