JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) supports local brands to be present at Indonesia Sport & Active Wear Exhibition (ISAW) 2023.

This activity was carried out to encourage a campaign to develop the clothing industry sector and sports equipment.

The ISAW 2023 exhibition will be held on November 1-4 and will later display various domestic clothing products and sports equipment.

"The exhibition will be carried out in a hybrid manner at the Plaza Industri of the Ministry of Industry and the Tokopedia marketplace by involving 40 local brands of clothing and sports equipment," said IKMA Director General of the Ministry of Industry Reni Yanita in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted Friday, October 13.

Reni said, ISAW 2023 is the result of collaboration between the clothing industry and sports equipment with marketplaces, such as Tokopedia, and also cooperating with communities in every sports segment.

"The easier it is for consumers to get information through social media and marketplaces to buy local products, currently domestic sports clothing products are also increasingly in demand," he said.

He added that local brands for sports clothes have become increasingly popular among young Indonesians.

"Support for product design that is in accordance with the development of sports clothing trends in the global market, as well as good branding and promotion strategies, local sports clothing products currently have identities that are no less powerful than products from abroad," said Reni.

According to Reni, despite the ever-increasing market potential, market competition in sportswear tends to be concentrated in big cities, as distributor networks of global brands are uneven.

"This is an opportunity for local brands of sports clothing to be able to expand their market reach through online and retail marketing with various strategies set, both through promotion, price, marketing channel, price determination, and collaboration-based distribution, coupled with increased e-commerce penetration," said Reni.

The ISAW 2023 exhibition itself is not only held as a momentum to promote local brands of sportswear, but also as an effort by the Ministry of Industry to be able to build an ecosystem for the clothing industry and sports equipment.

Meanwhile, Director of Industry Aneka and IKM Kimia, Sandang and Crafts Ni Nyoman Ambareny said, as part of a series of ISAW 2023 events, a Fashion Design Digital Competition (FDDC) will be held on October 6-20, 2023.

Ambar said the theme of the work carried out in this competition is activewear, which results will be displayed in the form of prototype products, as well as visuals at the opening of ISAW 2023. In addition, various pre-event events will be held in collaboration with the brands Birla Cellulose, Noore, Speed Jersey, and Arktiv.

"We are also preparing a Sports Clothing Technology Book which will be launched at ISAW 2023. This book is expected to summarize sustainability from the sports clothing ecosystem in the future," he added.
