PT PLN (Persero) signed a collaboration with Badak LNG. In this collaboration, PLN will supply clean electricity with a capacity of 160 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) for the Liquidized Natural Gas (LNG) refinery in East Kalimantan owned by PT Badak Natural Gas Liquefaction (Badak LNG).

President Director of PT PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo said that PLN is ready to continue collaborating in providing electricity for business actors. Later 11 of the 15 plant plans that will supply the East Kalimantan system are renewable energy-based generators.

"Of course this collaboration is established because of Badak LNG's trust in PLN, and PLN will also maintain that trust by presenting reliable electricity based on renewable energy," said Darmawan, Saturday, September 30.

He added that PLN is ready and open to providing reliable electricity support for business actors who want to open and develop their businesses throughout Indonesia.

"We invite anyone who needs electricity support so they don't hesitate to contact our team, we are ready to serve electricity needs and of course using electricity from PLN will be more efficient," he added.

General Manager of PLN UID Kaltimra Joice Lanny Wantania stated that the process of connecting electricity to LNG Refineries will be carried out in stages according to the needs and conditions of readiness in the field.

"The MoU with PT Badak LNG is the signing of the 4th high-voltage consumer (KTT) after Kobexindo, Kalimantan Ferro Industry (KFI) and Migas Mandiri Pratama (MMP). Of course, we are also preparing to increase the load and power needs that will arise with the presence of the 4 summits," said Joice.

The plan is that PLN will conduct a gradual electrical connection for PT Badak LNG. In Phase 1, PLN will supply 5 Megawatts (MW) in 2024. Then, in Phase 2, PLN will supply 160 MW in 2028 the same as the previous summit treatment.

President Director & CEO of PT Badak LNG, Gema Iriandus Pahalawan, stated that this step was part of the energy efficiency at the Badak LNG Refinery as stated in the signed memorandum of understanding.

"With the signing of this MoU, we hope that the continuity and reliability of electricity that supports the refinery can run as expected in 2028. We also appreciate the response and synergy of PLN in accommodating our needs," concluded Gema.
