Only RI In The World Moves To The Capital Of Nyebrang Island, Proof Jokowi Wants Equity

JAKARTA - Deputy for Funding and Investment of the Archipelago Capital Authority, Agung Wicaksono, said that the government's decision to move the capital city from Jakarta to Kalimantan has a deep meaning. According to him, this strategic step is an important milestone in the history of Indonesia and even the world.

"The capital city, which moves from one island to another, only happens in Indonesia," he said at the National Strategic Project Sewindu Forum (PSN), Wednesday, September 13.

Agung explained that a number of world countries that have moved the capital tend to choose a place that is still under one area.

"If we look at Australia, it's the capital city of Canberra but it's close to Melbourne and Sidney, which is just one stretch. Or another example of Washington DC and New York too," he said.

Citing a closer example, Agung explained that the ASEAN countries that had moved the center of government were Malaysia and Myanmar.

'Malaysia with Putra Jaya (who was transferred) to Kuala Lumpur. Then, (Myanmar) from Yangon to Naypyidaw," he said.

Therefore Agung encouraged the public to be able to better interpret how the government has a very big goal by bringing the capital city to Kalimantan.

"Nusantara has moved from Java to Kalimantan Island. The signal is that the President (Joko Widodo/Jokowi) wants to convey an equitable development, equal distribution of opportunities, including equal distribution of investment," he said.

Agung said that the current development needs of IKN are around 32 billion US dollars or almost Rp. 500 trillion.

"Of this figure, 80 percent is expected to come from non-APBN," he added.

VOI noted that the government has allocated a budget for IKN development through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) for the 2022-2024 period of IDR 65.57 trillion. Especially for next year's period, Rp40.6 trillion has been allocated APBN funds.
