The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) is considering the addition of the Jabodebek Integrated Highway (LRT) series that is operated. This follows the high public interest using the Jabodebek LRT.
"Alhamdulillah, the Jabodebek LRT is almost always crowded, in one day we can transport up to 56,286 passengers and we are optimistic that this number will continue to increase," said Director General of Railways Risal Wasal quoting Antara, Tuesday, September 12.
Since operating on Monday, August 28, the total number of passengers served by the Jabodebek LRT as of Friday, September 8 has reached 471,847 people.
In addition to the high public interest, Risal explained that the number of train series is possible to be added following the increasing achievement of time performance (OTP).
As for this, in the last 5 days (5-9 September 2023) the achievement of the Jabodebek LRT OTP has reached 81 percent with an average delay of only 1.9 minutes.
Nevertheless, he also appealed to operators to really ensure that existing obstacles were fully handled before the number of train series operated increased.
"Selesaikan kendala-kendala yang kemarin sudah teridentifikasi dan lakukan sesuai standar/aturan yang telah ditetapkan," kata Risal.

DJKA noted that the number of Jabodebek LRT series is planned to be increased to 16 series and will gradually be increased to 27 series. Meanwhile, currently, only 14 series are operating.
With the addition of the series to 16 train series, the headway or waiting time between trains can be reduced to 7.5-15 minutes with a travel time of 50-54 minutes.
Furthermore, Risal said that the Jabodebek LRT operational schedule would also be evaluated to accommodate input from the public.
"We are currently issuing recommendations so that the Jabodebek LRT can be operated more at night starting at 05.00 WIB until 20.00 WIB so that it can transport people who return home late. Hopefully it can be realized after the addition of the number of train series," said Risal.
