JAKARTA - The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) is committed to taking firm action against parties involved in the misuse of subsidized fuel, including owners and managers of the Fuel Filling Station (SPBU).

"BPH Migas is trying to ensure that the misuse of subsidized fuel can be minimized at every gas station. We will not tolerate this abuse," said BPH Migas Committee member Harya Adityawarman in a written statement, Saturday, September 9.

Supervision of the provision and distribution of subsidized fuel is one of the tasks of BPH Migas. Moreover, said Harya, subsidized fuel uses state money, which uses must be accountable, so that the distribution of fuel is expected to be right on target and on volume.

To increase supervision of the use of subsidized fuel, BPH Migas cooperates with Law Enforcement Officials (APH) and other relevant agencies and continues to encourage Business Entities in the use of the QR Code.

Selain itu, Harya berharap, idealnya dengan teknologi informasi (IT) ini juga memungkinkan bagi BPH Migas untuk memonitor CCTV di seluruh SPBU dari kantor pusat di Jakarta.

"With the limited personnel, it seems that it is not optimal for us to supervise all Indonesian gas stations, which number around 6,500 gas stations. For this reason, information technology needs to be used that will facilitate supervision, including allowing BPH Migas to monitor CCTV at every gas station from the BPH Migas office in Jakarta," he said.

Member of the BPH Migas Committee, Iwan Prasetya Adhi, said that monitoring the distribution of subsidized fuel to gas stations also aims to provide a deterrent effect for perpetrators of abuse, as well as other gas stations so that they can carry out their activities according to the rules that have been set.

"BPH Migas massively monitors SPBU gas stations and as a result, we see that there has been an increase from the gas station to improve the equipment, such as CCTV and the appropriate storage tanks. Hopefully, the gas station will be more orderly," he said.

"Similarly, subsidized fuel users can obey the rules more, so that the distribution of fuel is right on target," he added.
