PT PLN (Persero) through the Main Unit of the Maluku and North Maluku Region (UIW MMU) flows electricity to 21,369 customers consisting of 202 villages in Maluku and North Maluku.
Not only flowing electricity, PLN also carried out the construction of an 870-kilometer Medium Voltage Network (kms), a 171 kms Low Voltage Network, and 195 Distribution Substation Units or equivalent to a capacity of 11,275 kVA.
PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, said this step was an initiation from the government to increase the Electrification Ratio (RE) so that all people could access electricity so as to encourage the wheels of the economy in the Disadvantaged, Frontier, and Outermost (3T) areas.
"This Village Electricity Program is a tangible manifestation of the State's commitment to be present in realizing fair energy. Therefore, PLN will continue to support the government's efforts to increase the Electrification Ratio (RE) so that all people can access electricity so as to encourage the wheels of the economy," said Darmawan, Saturday, August 19.
Darmawan appreciated the struggle of PLN and the community in their efforts to electrify villages that are still not affordable at this time.
"The struggle is definitely not easy, full of challenges, the community is also working together, working hand in hand to lift transformers, poles and others. With the spirit we have, namely the spirit of struggle and support from all parties, travel and obstacles can be overcome properly and answered with success today," said Darmawan.
Member of Commission VII DPR RI, Mercy C Barends said, with the entry of electricity into 3T areas, it would certainly be a driving force for the economy in the area.
"After the generator is functioning, I am sure the economy will run well, the government runs optimally, health and education can be served without any obstacles," said Mercy.
Deputy I KSP, Febry Calvin Tetelepta is optimistic that PLN can bridge marine, fishery, and other issues with good energy.
"Economic pumping will occur significantly. This is the history and spirit of PLN's struggle, we should appreciate it as high as possible," added Febry.
