JAKARTA The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the annual inflation rate (year on year/yoy) in July 2023 was 3.08 percent.

"The annual inflation has decreased consistently since March 2023," he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 1.

Pudji detailed, based on the expenditure group, annual inflation is mostly contributed by transportation.

Pudji added that the largest annual inflation on the island of Sumatra occurred in Bengkulu. Then, in Java, there are Surabaya, Bali Islands and Nusa Tenggara in Waingapu.

"On the island of Kalimantan, the largest annual inflation occurred in Pontianak City. Then, Sulawesi is in Luwuk, and Maluku-Papua is the highest in Merauke," he said.

As for nationally, the largest inflation is in Merauke with 5.21 percent (above the average Indonesia inflation). Meanwhile, the lowest inflation is on Mount Sitoli at 0.50 percent.

In general, of the 90 cities surveyed, all of them experienced annual inflation or year on year. There are 41 cities experiencing higher inflation than the national and the rest are below the national level," said Pudji.
