Jokowi Wants Pindad To Move To Subang, Minister Of SOEs: It Takes 3-4 Years

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said that the transfer of the PT Pindad factory from Bandung to the Subang Industrial Estate took a long time. He said the process was about three to four years.

The transfer of the PT Pindad factory is a request from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The reason for moving the land between the lands in the area is wider, so the development of Pindad is easier to do.

Regarding the transfer of factories, Erick said that currently, related parties are still conducting studies.

"You have to map. Now this is what we are closing. It will take 3-4 years," he told reporters written Wednesday, July 26.

Erick said this transfer was also in line with the ecosystem in West Java with the existence of Patimban Port and Kertajati Airport.

This transfer, continued Erick, is to support the acceleration of the economy in order to increase the opening of employment opportunities.

"This has become a port, airport, toll road. Well, we will also add something called an industrial area like in Batang. So what is this? To help each other with this ecosystem," he explained.

Erick said that before Pindad and PTDI, BUMN engaged in the explosives field, PT Dahana had already been based in the Subang Industrial Estate.

"So we built a Pindad and PTDI there. But that's not the transition, it doesn't mean at yesterday's meeting, it's finished next week," he said.
