"The application of unconventional drilling technology can increase the production of the Rokan Block to strengthen national energy security while supporting the target of 1 million barrels of oil per day that has been launched by the Government," said Nicke, Saturday, July 22.

Nicke added, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan, as Pertamina's Upstream Subholding which manages Duri Blok Rokan Field, has partnered with EOG Resources, an experienced US company with Unconventional Drilling technology.

"With EOG's experience, it is hoped that it can produce results to find even greater oil and gas reserves to realize national energy resilience," added Nicke.

For information, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) conducted a study on the potential for Non Conventional Oil (MNK) in the Rokan block area. As a result, MNK opportunities were found in the Rokan Working Area which is expected to support national oil production.
