Great Opportunity, Minister Teten Invites Ornamental Fish Entrepreneurs To Form Cooperatives

JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki hopes that ornamental fish breeders will no longer do business on a small business scale and be managed individually.

He encouraged the breeders to establish cooperatives so that their economic scale improved.

"We will consolidate the small ones and aggregate them so that the economic scale improves by improving the product standards. For that, we will encourage them to operate," said Teten in a written statement, quoted Monday, July 17.

This desire cannot be separated from Teten's belief that Indonesia can become the center of the world's tropical ornamental fish because of its great human resource potential and cultivation ecosystem.

According to him, Indonesia has many great developers and understands very well how to colonize ornamental fish.

In fact, all types of ornamental fish in the world, can be colonized in Indonesia.

"We just need to increase the standardization of the products that we will do together with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries," he said.

Regarding the financing problem, Teten said there was a KUR Cluster financing scheme for breeders of up to IDR 500 million.

Not to mention, there is a strengthening of revolving funds from LPDB-KUMKM.

"In a position like this, Nusatic is the big ecosystem, and I believe it can revive the people's economy," he said.

Nevertheless, Minister Teten reminded Indonesia not only to become a market for products from outside.

"Don't let our market be captured by products from outside. We will repair it from the upstream side, from the side of the breeders, the marketing, to creating offtakers," he added.
