BALI - Pre-Employment and Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations of the United Nations (UNESCO) held an Inclusive Lifelong Learning Conference (ILCC) at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Nusa Dua, Bali, today.
The event was opened by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto through his remarks which were broadcast online.
In his remarks, he said, this event became a powerful tool to strengthen the world's society in facing global challenges, including climate change, as well as changing workers' market demographics.
"In this era of disruption, how to fight to provide ability, increase capabilities, and improve one of them is by learning throughout life (lifelong learning)," he said, on Monday, July 3.
Airlangga said learning throughout life plays an important role with the knowledge and ability to take advantage of technological developments, including those developed by AI.
"Therefore, Indonesia took the initiative with UNESCO by holding an ILLC," he said.
According to Coordinating Minister Airlangga, Indonesia is blessed with many human resources (HR), but the key factor for national welfare also relies on quality workers.
Thus, Indonesia through the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy has prioritized skilling, reskilling, and upskilling of Pre-Employment Cards as the government's main agenda.
"The success of Pre-Employment Cards in developing skills and knowledge is proof that the many evaluations held can improve the quality of training that promotes learning throughout life, integrates digital technology, and offers a wide variety of training options that suit the interests and needs of learners," he said.
Therefore, said Airlangga, as a representative of the Indonesian government who is committed to learning throughout life, proudly launched the #ImAlimfelongLearner campaign with UNESCO.

"Let's make this campaign a forum to state that the right to get education can be inclusive for all ages and backgrounds," added Airlangga.
For your information, the ILC event itself will start on July 3-6 at the Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua Hotel, Bali, and will be attended by around 300 participants from 73 member countries. This event was held without using the APBN.
