JAKARTA - The educational activity & Financial Literacy organized by PT Asuransi BRI Life in Manado has succeeded in increasing participants' understanding of Islamic finance, insurance and investment. A total of 44.8% of participants (of the total participants present) answered correctly when the pre-test was carried out at the beginning of the event. This percentage increased to 94.45% of participants answered correctly when the post-test was given at the end of the event.

The event organized by BRI Life is in line with the efforts of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in increasing the financial literacy index of the Indonesian people which is still low at 9.14% (of the total population in Indonesia), based on the 2022 National Literacy and Financial Inclusion Survey (SNLIK).

This literacy activity, which is packaged in a Sharia Financial Education & Literacy Talkshow format, carries the theme; Ngobrol Wise Financial Management-Towards Financial Independence. The event which took place at the Luwansa Hotel & Convention Center Manado on June 20, 2023 aims to encourage awareness and understanding of Islamic-based finance and expand public access to financial services aimed at achieving financial independence

BRI Life Marketing Director Sutadi appeared to be present at the opening of the event which was attended and attended by dozens of participants, the majority of whom had a teaching staff background at the high school and university levels.

In his discussion, he explained the concept of difference between time value of money (money has time value) and economic value of time (time has economic value), Islamic economic character, prohibition of sharia transaction principles and exposure to conventional and sharia insurance.

At the end of the discussion, Liesdiaty Padema - Head of the Kanal Agency Division of PT Asuransi BRI Life conveyed the material on how to get around a valuable legacy, namely A Precious Legacy, where Insurance, sharia investment and financial independence are one way to deal with a valuable legacy for the family.

This activity is very helpful especially for academics (students, lecturers and teachers) to be wiser in managing money, choosing investment and insurance, in addition to being an implementation in improving BRI Life services to Customers.
